Every teacher needs to improve not because they are not good enough, but because they can be EVEN BETTERDylan William

I’m a Chemistry teacher teaching in a mixed secondary state school in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. Before teaching, I used to work in a lab and has had a lot of experience in Analytical Chemistry in pharmaceutical laboratories in UK and India. I enjoy teaching Chemistry, and have more experience of teaching Physical and Inorganic Chemistry at A-level.

Recently, I started the CTeach course provided by the Chartered College of Teaching and through this course I came to know the world of Edutwitter. This inspired me to start blogging, I aim to be a reflective teacher so that my teaching practice can be better. This year, I started reading books on education and for the first time I felt that I understand ‘HOW LEARNING OCCURS’ now. The first book I read was POWERFUL TEACHING (https://www.powerfulteaching.org/) by Pooja Agarwal and Patrice Bain. This book opened doors for me towards the research in education and these two words captivated me- ‘Retrieval’. and ‘Metacognition’. I believe that by being research-informed we can make the learning experience a rich one for the children. I’ve just scratched the surface of the cognitive science and it will be an exciting experience from now on.
